Online store with Hadoop analytics
Our client is a leading hunting, fishing, and outdoor equipment retailer. Their site hosts one of the oldest online communities for outdoor enthusiasts. It is optimized for social and mobile experiences, and has the Internet’s first and most authoritative shopping comparison tool.
Business Challenge
John Wanamaker, the father of modern advertising once said: “Half the money I spend on advertising is wasted; the trouble is, I don’t know which half.”
Luckily for us, with today’s web-analytics tools we can get accurate statistical observations on retail data. We no longer have to rely solely on traditional methods like surveys, focus groups, or expensive marketing consultants to guess what drives sales.
As a result of our initial assessment, we delivered the customer a list of business problems, a detailed gap analysis report, and a list of potential solutions.
In order to solve these gaps, they partnered with Datamart to build a highly productive Hadoop cluster, allowing them to process and analyze multi-structured data from various sources.
