How Datamart helped to improve a car manufacturer’s business processes.
Business Challenge

The facade UI of the solution was intended to be an integrated web application within a car promotion microsite, allowing options and features for cars to be configured, provide a price estimate, and suggest the nearest auto dealer.
Meanwhile, the back-end side of the solution was designed to manage car and parts inventories, and suggest automatically generated corrections based on online analytics of demand stimulated by incentives and marketing campaigns.
Engineered Solution
After careful consideration of all requirements, including integration with the customer’s existing information processing system and procedures, Datamart engineers designed a scalable 3-tier client server solution based on OpenStack technology.
- Data Layer - Considering optimal combinations of scalability, features, and cost effectiveness, we chose PostgreSQL. This proved to be the right choice, contributing greatly to the solution’s performance and usability.
- Business Logic Layer - For the sake of scalability and integration, we developed a web-service based architecture. The business logic layer is a set of APIs based on REST (stateless) web-services.
- UI Layer - The UI layer employs an adaptive single-page design that tailors to a variety of desktop and mobile browsers based on the YUI framework. Thus, the application flow can be easily modified and extended. the workflow scenario and widgets interaction scheme.
